Happy Martin Luther King Day

Last year, i came across an autobiography of Martin Luther King Jnr in the library that i decided to read(i say of as he never technically wrote an autobiography, but this one was commissioned by the family and as wholly made up of his words from interviews and speeches)

Boy Oh Boy am i glad that i read it!

I will admit that i was moved to tears more than once when reading it.

He was an inspirational man who understood how the power of love could change the world.

In America today is Martin Luther King Day so I thought I'd share a few of his words with you......

Martin Luther King Jnr Born January 15, 1929

"When I hear 'people aren't ready' that's like telling a person who is trying to swim, "Don't jump in the water until you learn to swim'. When actually you will never learn to swim until you get in the water"

"I would rather be a man of conviction than a man of conformity"

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere"

1964- wins the Nobel Peace Prize

"There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must do it because conscience tells him it is right"

Kings efforts were not limited to civil rights he also spoke out aganst povety and the Vietnam War
