Dont Tell The Bride.....

i realised i havent blogged here about my recent obsession.
(along with wedding planning)

4 words-

'Dont Tell The Bride'

Don't tell the Bride, is a tv show that is being played on BBC 3.
its on its 6th season, but i've only just discovered it (why oh why!)

Basically the premise of it is that a couple are given
12grand to pay for the wedding on one condition...
The Groom plans the whole event,
location, dress, food, decor, bridesmaid dresses, shoes....the lot.

The Bride and Groom separate 3 weeks before the big
day and the Groom has those 3 weeks to plan the
wedding with only the help of his best man.

and it is AWESOME!
brides sky-diving to their wedding,
pride and prejudice themed weddings,
brides with no wedding shoes,
hideous dress melt downs!

trust me....
reality tv at its best

(i think there is an american version but i cant vouch for its awesomeness)

Goodbye....Farewell....Adieu.....

Today i am very sad.
I finally threw away my video player,
(mainly because it was broken)
I only have one video here,
but have a very large childhood collection at home.
People keep laughing at me here as to why i've been
hanging onto it...

I'll tell you why....

I am sad that gone is an era of taping
things of the telly.
I will missing laughing over the dodgy old adverts
that have become part of the film as they are steadfastly there
every time i watch it, like an old friend.

Remember the days of not being able to set up the automatic timer
so you could go out and tape your favourite programme...
only to come home and discover, you failed to do it...again!
Oh, how i will miss the anticipation of not knowing if this time it will work....

I am sad my children will never truly know the wonderful
world of VCR.....

A little bit of Austen....

Getting stuck at a train station in Austria yesterday for what seemed like an eternity the only thing that stopped me from exploding was the fact that before venturing on my journey i had downloaded 'Northanger Abbey' onto my ipod.

I thought i t was a beautiful adaptation.
At first i feared they had cast the main character too young,
but then again she is much more childish than most of Austen's other heroines.

and yes, Mr. Tilney was absolutely lovely!
