Snowflakes.....

Its not fair,
whenever i go on facebook at the moment is filled
with comments/stauses/pictures
from the UK where everyone is snowed in
and therefore having ample
Snow-Appreciation-Time

Not fair!
I am an expert Snow-Appreciator
and feel like my talent is being wasted
in thi 27degrees sun during the month of December.

But then again,
i have been spending my days lately
running around pretending to be a snowflake
and getting paid for it....

and take my word for it
life as a snowflake is short-lived
and tough for all its beauty.

So we do like to be appreciated.

Please Be Kind To Winter....

I have been getting very sad recently whenever people say,
"Oh, i wish winter was over and we could move onto summer"
or,
"i'm fed up with this snow"

Poor Winter!
Have you stopped to think about her feelings?

Do you not remember when you were excited to get your
woolly mittens and favourite knitted jumper from the back of the closet?

Do you not remember when you eagerly begged her for snow?
Waking up every morning peaking out the window to see
if today was indeed the day when she would answer your plea?

What has changed?
Now, she snows for you, trying to please you in the only way that she knows how.
She makes it icy cold so you can wrap your favourite scarf tighter around you-
and you grump and groan and say 'no more!'.

The other seasons never get this kind of treatment,
everyone looks forward to Spring as it leads to Summer.
No-one ever complains Summer is too long,
normally they complain its not enough.
Autumn is short and full of pretty colours that make you forget
that she is here to welcome in Winter.

So,
Please Be Kind To Winter.....

Umbrellas in the snow.....

When i first moved here my Austrian flat mate and i used to find it hilarious that Slovenes whip out there umbrellas when its snowing.

And yet yesterday i found myself returning to my house to retrieve my umbrella to protect me from the heavy snowfall and stop me getting all snowy-wet.....its very practical dont-ya-know.

If only i could pick up their language quite so easily.....
