Christmas Music...
Oh dear,
my blog has been a bit mopey and depressive as of late, whilst everyone else's are full of holiday cheer.
So i thought i'd share some of my favourite Christmas songs from this year....
i love listening to them, even though it's not Christmassy outside,
when i walk along listening to them on my ipod,
i can imagine myself a million miles away.
Muppets, Where Ever You Find Love -
This one sums up for me the feeling of what the Spirit of Christmas is.
Its about the moments of joy that you find.
Michael Buble- Santa Clause is coming to town -
So i dont actually have this one on my ipod,
but i do LOVE how Gene-Kelly-esque this video is!
Fantasia -
Again, not on my ipod, but this is the music i'm listening to
everyday for the past two months...Nutcracker....
but as a little girl i could watch the Fantasia movie on repeat....
that Walt Disney, what a guy....
Kari Jobe - Bethlehem
I just discovered her album this Christmas,
i think she has an angelic voice that suits Christmas Carols to a T -
Robert Downey Jr - River
The Ally McBeal Christmas Album has been one of my faves for such a long time now. And i love R-D Jr singing this song....he is so delightsome....plus this song rings up my feelings right about now

Magic Music....
Dang, i just heard this song today,
and i honestly listened to it on repeat about 5 times.
It just sums up a whole bunch of feelings that i have right now.
it's been a while since a song has done that for me,
and this one probably wont do it for you....
it isnt it magic when a song does that?
like this person on the other side of the world
who you will never know
knows exactly what it feels like to be you
at this precise moment.
Isn't it a little bit comforting to know that
other people out there
have been through and feel and understand
what i'm going through.
It makes me feel a little bit less small,
and a little bit less odd....

Book or Movie?
I wanted to post this song,
The Curse by Josh Ritter.
Previously i had only ever heard it,
but when i went to youtube to look up the video i discovered that the music
video for it is exceedingly cute too....
but then i was in two minds as to what to actually post.
You see when i first heard the song i didnt know what
it was about and the unfolding of the story in my mind
and i mainly enjoyed the realisation as to what it was actually referring to.
The music video, although charmingly beautiful requires no use of the imagination,
so here is the book version,
and here is the movie.....

Dear Deer......
My latest obsession is youtubing ukulele videos....
some that can inspire me
and some that can teach me how to actually play the thing.
I came across this one by Kate Micucci,
which definitely goes under the catagory of inspire.
It also inspired me to buy her mini EP from itunes could Songs.....
its sparkelicious.

Don't Hassle the Hoff....
Sometimes i just need to giggle....
this video seems to always do the job.
I like to think that if i ever became a popstar this is the kind of music that i would make.

Was very excited to find that one of the girls at church here is in a ukulele band!
Now all i need is a ukulele so i can join in.

If you like a ukulele lady....

On friday whilst waiting at the bus stop i noted that the
music shop next to it was having 'Ukulele Day' the following day.
Boy oh boy was i excited!
So Saturday morning after having rounded up two of my sisters
with an equal amount of excitement,
we headed in for our free 'learn-to-play-the-ukulele-workshop'
given by Steven Sproat.
It was oodles of fun and i think he was equally happy
to have a such an enthusiastic audience.
Well anyhows, i asked the music shop if they will post me a
ukulele out to Cairo once i find somewhere to live
(fingers crossed that doesnt take too long)
and they are going to be happy to oblige.
i am now counting down the days till i can sit and strum away on my ukulele
and one day be able to play just a little bit like Steven (watch him here)
but please understand this might take a long while
as i'm sure that i have no musical talent whatsoever. ...

Playing Catch up...
i only seem to blog when i'm not busy and therefore actually have nothing to say.
Now i've been lots of fun stuff and had no time(or computer) to write it.
Here are a couple of things of the top of my head -
Saw Bob Dylan in concert,
he sucked he sounded like an old Marge Simpson
Had my last official performance in Ljubljana -
i had planned a mini party for during the curtain calls (party hats and moustaches)
but the show was cancelled due to low temperatures and rain (it was outdoors)

To surprise my little brother...(who at 6ft 4 isnt so little any more) who is heading off in a couple of weeks to become a Missionary for my church for two years.

Climbed Arthurs Seat, Went to Dalkeith Park, ate haggis, had a bbq, a fry-up and a game of Scrabble on an original board that was bought i South Africa.
and of course hung out with the fam...

But the biggest news is that i jumped on a plane this week and went to Cairo for three days where i didn't get a chance to see much of the (humongous) city, but did get offered a job as a Soloist in The Cairo Opera Ballet...Which lets just say is a big promotion from my current predicament...
Things are looking SHINY!!!!

Simple Things...
Listening to my ipod this morning this song got me thinking of my family, and how i wish i could be at home during this holiday season, even if it is just to fight with one of my sisters!
Sometimes i just miss that we are all just a little bit the same kind of crazy
...
Sometimes i just miss that we are all just a little bit the same kind of crazy
...

If you love the life you live
Then you'll get a lot more done
Be more inclined to take the reins
Than turn away and run
It's very rare it seems to get a lifetime guarantee,
So I suppose self satisfaction be the key
My father is a wealthy, self made man
But his wealth does not consist of riches or acres of land
Instead he has a family who are His biggest fans
That's something that I one day hope to have
So I'll cherish the simple things
The easy took for granted things
Like going round my Mum's house for my tea
And argue with my sister,
Only God knows how I missed her
It's the simple things that mean the most to me
