Galapagos -Giant Tortoise

Seconds off the plane from a 27 hour trip
and husband whisks me off to see the islands
most famous inhabitants.

The Giant Tortoise.

I tell you, there aint no better cure for
jet lag than these little beauties.

They reminded me so much of my wee Del-Boy
(who currently lives with my mother-in-law
who spoils her rotten and hand feeds her each day)
the same characteristics
only much much bigger.

So adorable.

I think my favourite one may have been the
one who was in the swamp.

Mainly because she reminded me of
Morla the Aged one from Neverending Story,
yes there may have been quite a few
quotes and re-enactments going on there
(luckily i recently introduced husband to the movie so
he is no on parr with my brain waves)

I can also tell you that their favourite food
is Guava, it makes their faces very pink!

The Neverending Story.....

'Bastian had shown the lion the inscription on the reverse side of the Gem. 'What do you suposse it means?' he asked. DO WHAT YOU WISH, that must mean i can do anything i feel like. Dont you think so?'
All at once Grograman's face looked alarmingly grave and his eyes glowed.
'no,' he said in his deep rumbling voice. 'It means that you must do what you really and truly want. And nothing is more difficult.'
'What i really and truly want?' What do you mean by that?'
'It's your own deepest secret and you yourself don't know it'
'How can I find out?'
'By going the way of your wishes, from one to another, from first to last. It will take you to what you really want.'
'That doesn't sound so hard,' said Bastian.
'It is the mst dangerous of all journeys.'
'Why?' asked Bastian, 'I'm not afraid.'
'That isn't it' Grograman rumbled, 'I requires the greatest honesty and vigilance, because there is no other journey on which its so easy to loose yourself forever.'

The Neverending Story.....

i'm re-reading The Neverending Story.
By the title of this blog i'm sure that its clear that i'm a fan.
As a child i dreamed of being The Childlike Empress,
and at around the age of 16 i discovered the book and a whole new adventure began.

When people ask me for a recommended read,
its always my first recommendation.

I've read about 20 pages and already i've oodles of quotes that
i've wanted to write out, i think i'm going to have to contain myself.

'I wonder, he said to himself, whats in a book while its closed. Oh, i know its full of letters printed on paper, but all the same, something must be happening, because as soon as i open it, there's a whole story with people i don't know yet and all kind of adventures and deeds and battles. And sometimes there are storms at sea, or it takes you to strange cities and countries. All those thig are somehow shut up in a book. Of course you have to read it to find out. But, its already there, thats the funny thing. i just wish i knew how it could be'
Suddenly an almost festive mood came over him.
He settled himself, picked up the book, opened it to the first page and began to read

The Neverending Story'
